Explaining birth to a two-year old

Dom had a piece of paper earlier today with pictures that showed a baby inside of a woman’s tummy. His first concern was that the mommy wasn’t wearing any clothes. Then he wanted to talk about how the baby got out of the mommy’s tummy and the conversation went something like this.
“The mommy goes to the hospital for the baby to come out,” I said.
“Does the baby fall down?” he asked.
“No the doctor catches baby.”
“Oh the doctor catches baby so the baby doesn’t fall down?”
“Dr. Laura will help catch baby sister when she is born.”
“Is Dr. Laura going to put her finger in your belly button to get baby sister out?”

If only it were that simple to get labor started.
