Episode 30: 01001001 00100000 01101000 01100101 01100001 01110010 01110100 00100000 01100111 01100101 01100101 01101011 01110011

Despite what Kelly in the Clinic thinks, the IT language that I speak doesn’t sound like this:
“one, zero, zero, one, one, zero, zero, one, one, one, zero, one, zero, one.”

It’s true, though, that I am a geek. For instance, the other night, a coworker brought over an issue to my desk so I said, “Well, let’s just run a little query first and then determine if we should update it.”
I ran the query and here’s what I looked at:
upload_que_stat        order_stat
2                                       1
1                                       4
1                                       5
2                                       1
1                                       4
1                                       5
2                                       1
1                                       4
1                                       5
2                                       1
1                                       4
1                                       5
2                                       1
1                                       4
1                                       5
2                                       1
1                                       4
1                                       5

There were more columns with more information, but I only looked at those two columns and read them like this:
“This one’s not in, this one’s not, and this one, not this one, nor this one, or the last one.”

I “read” numbers.

I am a geek.

  1. I’m just a regular geek. I don’t do anything special like reading cool number codes. I wish I could… *sigh*

I do sing. Does that make me a singing geek? It’s all geek to me. *groan*
